Two Prince Edward County drivers have been charged with impaired driving in separate incidents over the past week, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
The first case happened Tuesday, June 26 at about 8 p.m., when officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover on County Road 1. Police found a vehicle in the ditch and say the driver showed signs of alcohol use. A roadside breath test resulted in a fail. Chanel McKenzie, 20, of Picton, faces multiple charges including impaired driving and novice driver with alcohol above zero.
The second incident occurred Wednesday, July 1 at about 3 a.m. during a RIDE checkpoint at County Road 4 and George Wright Boulevard. Officers say two breath tests also resulted in a fail. Christopher Sampson, 41, of Picton, was charged with impaired driving offences.
Both accused were released and will appear in Picton court later.
Prince Edward County OPP continue to urge safe driving and to report suspected impaired drivers immediately.
