A new long-term care home has officially opened in Greater Napanee, bringing 128 modern beds and expanded care space to seniors in the region.
The new Village Green, owned by Omni Quality Living, replaces the former 66-bed home in Selby that was built in 1977. Construction began in 2023 with support from the Province of Ontario as part of its plan to modernize long-term care across the province.
The new home includes four resident home areas, therapy rooms, bright common spaces, a salon, family rooms, and secure outdoor areas.
Omni CEO Raheem Hirji said the home is designed to focus on dignity, comfort, and connection, with staff and families described as key parts of daily life inside the facility.
At the grand opening, Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care, pointed to ongoing investments in long-term care staffing and training, including recruitment incentives for personal support workers and nurses, as well as education programs in dementia and wound care.

Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee said the project reflects years of planning and a commitment to modern care in smaller communities, noting that long-term care must remain close to home so residents can stay connected to family and friends.
Mayor Terry Richardson said the opening marks an important moment for Greater Napanee, calling the home a major community investment that will support local seniors for years to come. He said the project reflects strong local partnerships and praised the teams behind the development for delivering a facility that meets growing community needs.
