A Napanee family has created a new charitable fund at the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington to support local causes and students.
The Oliver Family Fund was launched with a donation from John and David Oliver. The fund will provide educational bursaries and support initiatives in environmental protection, healthcare, animal welfare, and poverty reduction across the region.
The brothers, who were born and raised in Napanee, are leading the donor-directed fund. John Oliver had a long career in agriculture and was inducted into the Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2013. David Oliver worked in transportation technology and helped develop toll systems used on Highway 407 and EZPass in the United States.
The fund has already created the Ross and Helen Oliver Student Award, starting in 2026, which gave two Napanee District Secondary School students $1,000 each for post-secondary education.
