A new colouring book from local artist Lisa Ray Koenig is helping support cats and kittens in need through a partnership with Napanee Community Kitten Rescue and La Senda Eco Store and Naturopathic Clinic.
Koenig, the creator behind Groovy Cats Art, recently launched A Groovy Cats Art Colouring Adventure, a book filled with illustrations based on her artwork. The project doubles as a fundraiser, with a portion of proceeds from books sold at La Senda Eco Store being donated to Napanee Community Kitten Rescue until Sept. 8.
She shared with myFM she got the idea to do a colouring book from her husband, John.
The book features pages inspired by Koenig’s colourful paintings and includes blank lines for children to create their own stories. It is also connected to her earlier storybook, Another Groovy Cat Summer.
Koenig said supporting the rescue was an easy decision because of her love of cats and appreciation for the volunteers who care for them.
The rescue, which receives no government funding, says community support is essential to its work.
“We truly appreciate the continued support from Lisa Ray and are so excited for this fundraiser,” said founder Nancy Clark. “It’s creative, heartwarming, and helps us continue the important work we do for our feline
friends.”
The colouring book sells for $20 and is available through La Senda Eco Store in downtown Napanee.
