The Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington will distribute $202,000 to local charities and students during its annual Take it for Granted celebration on June 9.
The funding includes $117,000 for 29 community projects and $85,000 in scholarships and awards for 28 local high school students who will begin post-secondary studies this fall.
Organizations receiving funding this year include Community Living Lennox & Addington, Hospice Lennox & Addington, Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs, the Salvation Army Napanee, Scientists in Schools, the Rotary Club of Napanee, and The Food Sharing Project.
Volunteer reviewers help evaluate applications for both community grants and student awards each year.
The grants support a wide range of initiatives across Lennox and Addington County, including youth programs, food security efforts, environmental projects, health and wellness programs, arts and culture activities, and recreation opportunities.
The foundation said the grants are made possible through endowment funds established by local individuals, families, and businesses. Income earned through investments is returned to the community to support local non-profit organizations and charitable initiatives.
