Quinte Conservation has extended its Shoreline Conditions Statement for Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte as water levels continue to rise following heavy spring rain and snowmelt.
Lake Ontario levels have reached 75.37 metres and are expected to peak in the next two weeks between 75.39 and 75.40 metres if average water supplies continue.
The conservation authority says the current levels exceed the threshold for issuing a public advisory. However, officials note similar or higher levels have occurred in roughly one-third of years since 1960.
Quinte Conservation says strong winds combined with elevated water levels could lead to localized flooding in low-lying shoreline areas. Staff will continue monitoring wind, wave activity and lake conditions for possible impacts.
Residents living in flood-prone areas are being urged to stay alert and monitor changing shoreline conditions and weather forecasts.
The advisory remains in effect until June 11 unless updated earlier.
