The Greater Napanee Soccer Club is calling for more volunteer coaches as registration numbers continue to grow across the community.
Head coach Charles Clair said the club, which began in 1984, now sees nearly 800 players register each season and operates more than 70 teams.
The organization is fully volunteer-run, with referees being the only paid positions.
Clair said the club would ideally like to have two coaches per team, which would require around 140 volunteers. He said finding even one coach per team can be difficult at times.
Despite the challenge, Clair said coaching can be a rewarding experience for parents and community members, even for those without a soccer background.
The club only requires volunteer coaches to complete a vulnerable sector check. Respect in Sport training is encouraged but not mandatory.
Clair said new coaches are supported with practice plans, mentoring and resources tailored to different age groups.
House league games are played throughout Greater Napanee between Monday and Thursday evenings. Game lengths vary depending on the age division.
People interested in coaching or volunteering can contact the Greater Napanee Soccer Club through its Facebook or Instagram pages, or by emailing gnsc1984@gmail.com.
