More Ontario businesses can stay open on Victoria Day this year… and workers can either take the day off or work for time and a half, following recent amendments to the province’s Retail Business Holidays Act.
Changes announced in March were passed in the legislature this spring.
The decision to open on Victoria Day now rests with individual business owners…so you’ll likely see a lot more stores open on Monday than normal.
With Victoria Day almost here, holiday hours are in full effect Monday:
Grocery store hours will vary, so check signs on doors before heading in.
Some restaurants will be open to help feed the many tourists expected to hit our listening area.
At least one pharmacy in each town is expected to remain open for essential needs. Shoppers Drug Mart will be open in Greater Napanee.
LCBO and Beer Stores will be closed, but some grocery and corner stores will still sell alcohol.
Government offices will be closed at all levels.
Plan ahead if you’re travelling, shopping or enjoying the outdoors.
Victoria Day is a time for fun, but knowing what’s open and closed can save time and frustration.
