A yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Greater Napanee as a strong weather system is expected to bring heavy rain starting late Wednesday.
The warning calls for 30 to 50 millimetres of rain through Thursday morning.
Officials say the ground is already saturated, meaning it will have little ability to absorb additional rainfall. This raises the risk of water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas.
While lighter showers may pass through earlier in the day, the main system is expected to move in late Wednesday.
Drivers are being warned not to drive through flooded roads. Residents are also advised to watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts as conditions change.
