Correctional Service Canada says multiple packages containing contraband were seized at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston on April 18, 2026, after suspected drone drops.
The seized items included tobacco, marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, cell phones and related accessories. Officials estimate the total institutional value at about $128,900.
CSC says staff vigilance played a key role in the seizure. The agency says it uses several tools to prevent drugs and other banned items from entering facilities, including ion scanners and detector dogs. Searches are carried out on buildings, inmates, visitors and personal property.
CSC also works with police to investigate and stop attempts to bring contraband into institutions. The agency says it has increased security measures to help maintain safety.
