The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is celebrating more than 1,000 volunteers during National Volunteer Week, highlighting the vital role they play in helping animals across the province.
The organization says volunteers support a wide range of services, including animal care, dog walking, education, transportation, and events. Officials say their efforts help strengthen both animal welfare and community connections.
Locally, the Lennox and Addington Animal Centre in Greater Napanee is encouraging more people to get involved. The centre is looking for foster volunteers to care for animals in need, as well as people to help with driving, cat care, outreach, and school programs.
An open house for prospective volunteers is set for April 26 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the centre.
More information on how to volunteer is available through the Ontario SPCA website.
