The Ontario government is providing up to $668,000 to help six Hastings County municipalities recover from the severe ice storm on March 28, 2025.
myFM spoke with H-L&A MPP Ric Bresee, who says they’re grateful to be able to work with local municipal partners and provide support.
The affected municipalities include Centre Hastings ($62,000), Marmora and Lake ($409,000), Stirling-Rawdon ($122,000), Madoc ($21,000), Tudor and Cashel ($43,000), and Tweed ($11,000). The storm left nearly 400,000 homes and businesses across central and eastern Ontario without power and caused extensive tree damage.
Stirling-Rawdon’s cleanup is still ongoing due to damaged trees and labour strain. Tudor and Cashel faced blocked roads and icy hazards.
Bresee said the support helps municipalities with limited budgets.
Minister Rob Flack said the funding will protect local jobs and help Hastings County rebuild stronger.
The funding comes from the $90 million Municipal Ice Storm Assistance program and will cover emergency response and cleanup costs. The programs were launched in June 2025 to assist communities impacted by the storm.
