Meals on Wheels Week is shining a spotlight on a vital program helping residents stay independent in their homes in Napanee and surrounding areas.
The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Napanee program delivers hot, home-cooked meals to clients multiple times each week, depending on location, while also offering frozen meal options monthly.
Program staff say the service plays an important role in the community.
The program currently serves clients in Napanee, Deseronto, Amherstview, Odessa and Bath, relying heavily on volunteers to prepare and deliver meals.
Long-time volunteer Pat, who has been helping for about 12 years, says the experience is meaningful.
VON says it is currently in need of more volunteer drivers and kitchen help, especially on Monday mornings, and is encouraging community members to get involved.
