Loyalist College has provided a record $1.1 million in donor-supported financial aid to students, the college announced on February 18. The funding comes through bursaries and scholarships, with recipients chosen in two award rounds and a third round currently underway.
The increase reflects growing demand for financial support as students face rising living costs while balancing school, work, and family responsibilities. Last year, the college received 1,804 applications, 50 percent more than the previous year and triple the number from 2022–23.
Students like Kristina McIntosh, a parent returning to school after years in the workforce, say bursaries help ease financial stress and support their education goals.
College leadership credits the generous community of donors. President Mark Kirkpatrick said their support reduces financial barriers and strengthens access to post-secondary education. More information is available at loyalistcollege.com.
