Tyendinaga Township Council has officially opposed the proposed southern route of the Alto High Speed Rail Project, which aims to connect Toronto and Quebec City with trains reaching up to 300 km/h.
The main rail line is planned to run from Toronto to Peterborough, then east to Ottawa, before continuing toward Quebec City. The southern route would branch off at Norwood, passing through Northumberland County, Quinte West, Tyendinaga Township, and Lennox and Addington County.
Council is encouraging residents to take part in the public consultation process to provide feedback on the proposed route. You can provide feedback here.
