It was an exciting weekend at the Best and Bash Arena, as the Napanee Raiders hosted the Lakefield Chiefs and Port Hope Panthers in their final home games of the regular season.
Friday night, the Napanee Raiders opened the game with a Power Play goal by Trent Williams, assisted by Cole McEwen and Eric Taher. Less than 2-minute later, Spencer Cranley found the back of the net, short handed, and unassisted for a 2-0 lead. the chiefs then scored on the PP to end the period 2-1. The Raiders added to their lead after the half way point of the second period, with Matthew Airhart scoring, assisted by Reid Lambert and Ben Kerr. Then 14-second later, Ben Kerr scored his own, assisted by Reid Lambert and Kaden Byne to take a 4-1 lead. A scoreless third period would mean it’s a 4-1 Raiders win!
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 36 saves on 37 shots on goals.
Sunday night, a scoreless third period would lead to the second period, where the Raiders took a 2-0 lead! Those goals scored by Andrew Carr on the Power Play, assisted by Mason Goodfellow and Trent Williams, and Tanner Hawkins, assisted by Keenan Downey. Port Hope would avoid the shutout with their first and only goal of the night. Tanner Hawkins then scored his second of the night, assisted by Spencer Cranley, for a 3-1 Raiders win!
Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 16 saves on 17 shots on goals.
The Napanee Raiders are in third place in the East Tod Division standings with a 26-12-2-0-1-1 record and 55 points.
The Raiders finish their regular season Tuesday, February 17th, when they play the Thunder in Trent Hills at 7:30pm.
