The Town of Greater Napanee has sold its building at 12 Market Square for $380,000 plus HST, with net proceeds expected to be about $352,500. Council approved the sale at its February 10 meeting, marking a key step in ongoing efforts to revitalize Market Square and enhance Town Hall.
Proceeds from the sale will be placed in a dedicated reserve fund to support Market Square redevelopment, ongoing remediation at Town Hall, and the reduction of outstanding capital debt. The funds will also help finance the next steps in the Market Square redevelopment process, including a staff report recommending the preferred procurement method and design work with a design/build contractor.
The redevelopment will include two phases: renovation and engineering of the Town Hall main floor and the Napanee Rotary Centennial Market Project. Committee and stakeholder feedback, along with design approvals, will guide the project.
Mayor Terry Richardson said the sale helps move forward improvements to this historic community space. Updates will be posted on the Town’s website.
