UPDATE February 3rd: A 19-year-old person has died after a house fire in Loyalist Township, south of Odessa.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Millhaven Road near Caton Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ontario Provincial Police, Loyalist Township firefighters, neighbouring fire departments and county paramedics responded.
Police say the house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. One person was initially unaccounted for and was later found dead during the investigation.
Firefighters remained at the scene for several days as officials worked to determine what caused the blaze. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation.

Original Article January 30th: Emergency crews are investigating a house fire south of Odessa in Loyalist Township that has left one person unaccounted for.
The fire broke out Thursday, January 29, 2026, shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Millhaven Road near Caton Road. Members of the Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police, Loyalist Township Firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene.
The home was fully engulfed in flames, and firefighters remained on site overnight. The Office of the Fire Marshal is now investigating the cause of the blaze.
In an email to myFM, the OPP’s Bill Dickson shared they “believe the person is unaccounted for but may not actually be missing.”
