Residents of Greater Napanee and the surrounding area are being warned to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures tonight. A yellow warning for cold is in effect, with wind chills expected to reach between minus 33 and minus 38.
The warning says the cold will last into early Friday morning.
Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin in these conditions. You’re advised to cover up and limit time outdoors. Officials also caution that pets should not be left outside, as the extreme cold is dangerous for animals as well.
Signs of frostbite include colour changes in fingers or toes, numbness, pain, tingling, or swelling. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should move indoors immediately and begin warming up.
