A special doughnut created by Special Olympics Canada will be available at Tim Hortons locations across the country from January 30 to February 1, with all proceeds going to support athletes.
myFM spoke with Aimee Burtch, community coordinator for Lennox and Addington Special Olympics, to learn more.
Lennox and Addington Special Olympics supports about 90 athletes who take part in sports such as swimming, curling, basketball, bowling, golf and bocce.
She said the money raised this year will help support Team Ontario athletes heading to the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat later this summer.
Burtch noted Lennox and Addington will be represented at the national games, marking one of the first times a local athlete has competed at that level.
Birch also thanked Tim Hortons and local residents for their continued support.
