A 72-year-old man from Demorestville is facing impaired driving charges following a fail to remain collision in Prince Edward County.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to a crash on County Road 5 shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026. Witnesses reported seeing a passenger vehicle strike several snowbanks before colliding with an unoccupied vehicle. The driver then left the scene.
Police located the driver nearby and conducted a roadside alcohol screening test. The man was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment for further testing.
Bruce Casselman has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, fail to remain, and fail to report.
Casselman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 4. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.
OPP remind drivers that impaired driving is preventable and encourage the public to report suspected impaired driving.
