Ontario Provincial Police officers across eastern Ontario have responded to more nearly 100 collisions since 5 a.m. today.
Police say most crashes resulted in no injuries or only minor injuries. In many cases, drivers lost control of their cars or trucks and ended up in the ditch amid poor winter driving conditions.
The Ontario Provincial Police are urging motorists to adjust their driving. Drivers are reminded to slow down, leave extra following distance, keep headlights on, and stay focused on the road. Police also stress the importance of staying behind working snowplows, noting crews are out making roads safer for everyone.
Residents are encouraged to stay home if travel is not necessary.
Those who must head out are advised to check current road conditions at 511on.ca and monitor 88.7 myFM for updates while keeping their attention on driving.
