The Coldest Night of the Year walk is set to return to Greater Napanee on Saturday, Feb. 28, with organizers hoping to raise $100,000 for Morningstar Mission.
myFM spoke with organizer Lynda Carney, who says the event will once again be based at Trinity United Church, where walkers will gather before heading out into the winter night to show support for people experiencing homelessness.
So far, more than $6,000 has been raised. Carney let us know they’re well on the way to their goal.
The money helps cover food, programs and building upkeep at the Mission, which continues to see growing demand.
Kevin Alkenbrack, Morningstar Mission Executive Director, says the event also helps people feel supported.
