It was an exciting and busy weekend for the Napanee Raiders!
On Friday night, the Napanee Raiders hosted the Trent Hills Thunder. Napanee’s Matthew Airhart scored the Raiders first of the night, 1-minute into the game, assisted by Eric Taher and Trent Williams on the Power Play. Just over a minute later the Thunder scored their first of the night to tie the game. The Raiders then scored twice more in the first period, by Andrew Carr, assisted by Ryan McGee and Jobey Pearson, and Ryan McGee, assisted by Andrew Carr, for a 3-1 Raiders lead.
In the second period the Raiders went up 4-1 thanks to a goal by Captain Reid Lambert, assisted by Eric Taher and Ben Kerr.
Zered Haller opened the scoring in the third period, assisted by Ryan McGee for a 5-1 Raiders lead. Trent Hills then scored their second goal of the night. From there the Raiders scored twice more. Those goals scored by Owen Kish, assisted by Zered Haller and Luke Jarmin, and Trent Williams, assisted by Mason Goodfellow. Raiders win 7-2!
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 26 saves on 28 shots on goals.
On Sunday night, the Napanee Raiders made the drive to Amherstview to play the Jets. The Raiders were up 1-0 at the end of the first, with a goal scored by Captain Reid Lambert, assisted by Luke Jarmin and Jobey Pearson on the Power Play. The Raiders then added two more in the second, goals scored by Ben Kerr, assisted by Kaden Byne and Trent Williams on the Power Play, and Mason Goodfellow, assisted by Luke Jarmin. The Jets then returned the call and scored two of their own to end the period 3-2. Ben Kerr then scored the only goal of the third period, unassisted on the Power Play for a 4-2 Raiders win!
Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 19 saves on 19 shots on goals.
Also this on this weekend, the All Stars Game! The Tod division team, which featured Raiders’ Goalie Jacob Brown, Forwards Mason Goodfellow and Andrew Carr, and Defensemen Jackson Barnes, defeated to Orr division team 5-2. Brown was in the net for the first half of the game, saving 15 of 16 shots on goal. Goodfellow and Carr each earned an assist.
The Napanee Raiders are in second place in the East Tod Division standings with a 20-9-2-0-1-1 record and 43 points.
The Raiders are back in action Friday, January 16th when they host the Frankford Huskies at 7:30pm. Then on Sunday, January 18th, the Raiders play the Chiefs in Lakefield at 4pm.
