The Napanee Raiders had an exciting weekend of action coming back from their holiday break.
On Saturday, Jan 3rd, the Raiders made the trip to Picton for an afternoon game with the Pirates. The Pirates had a 1-0 lead at the end of the first, before taking a 2-0 lead half way through the second. Raiders’ Mason Goodfellow then scored late in the period, assisted by Matthew Airhart and Cole Campbell. Napanee’s Spencer Cranley then scored the Raiders second of the night in the third period, assisted by Ryan Aldgridge and Andrew Carr, to tie the game and send things to overtime. A scoreless overtime period would send the Raiders to the shootout, where Picton won 3-2.
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 20 saves on 22 shots on goals.
On Sunday, Jan 4th, the Raiders hosted the Port Hope Panthers, also an afternoon game! The Raiders were up 3-0 at the end of the first, goals scored by Jackson Barnes (2) and Ryan Aldridge. Napanee then added two more to their lead in the second, thanks to goal scorers Ben Kerr and Mason Goodfellow. No scoring in the third would lead to a 5-0 Raiders win!
Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 19 saves on 19 shots on goals to earn the shutout.
As of the time of publication, The Napanee Raiders are tied with Frankford for second place in the East Tod Division standings with a 18-9-2-0-1-1 record and 39 points.
