Ontario Provincial Police say more than 100 impaired drivers have been removed from roads across eastern Ontario as part of the Festive RIDE campaign. Officers have conducted nearly 1,100 RIDE programs since the initiative began on Nov. 20, arresting and charging 101 drivers, including 34 in the past week alone.
Each charged driver received a 90-day licence suspension, a seven-day vehicle impoundment and a future court date. Police also issued 20 three-day licence suspensions to drivers who registered in the warn range during roadside alcohol screening, an increase from the previous week.
The Festive RIDE campaign runs until Jan. 1, 2026, covering areas from Quinte West to the Quebec boundary and northwest through the Ottawa Valley. RIDE programs can take place day or night on highways, rural roads and city streets.
Police remind the public that impaired driving puts everyone at risk and urge anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 9-1-1.
