A major charity concert is coming to Deseronto this weekend to raise money for hurricane relief in Jamaica.
Local musician David Maracle is organizing the Jamaica One Love fundraiser, set for Sunday, Dec. 21, at the old United Church on Fourth Street. The event runs from 2 to 9 pm.

The show features a long list of performers, including two-time Juno Award winner Derek Miller, Astrid Young, River City Junction, and several other local and Indigenous artists, including his niece Noelle Maracle. Rumor has it her fiancé Derik Baker, also known as Virginia to Vegas, may make an appearance.
Maracle said the community response has been overwhelming.
Admission is pay what you can and seating is first come, first served in the 300-seat venue.
Food will be available, including Jamaican jerk chicken and Indigenous cuisine, with all proceeds going to Jamaica. A silent auction will also be held, featuring donated items from across Ontario and beyond.
