The Ontario Provincial Police have lifted a shelter-in-place advisory that was issued early Monday morning in the Municipality of Tweed.
Central Hastings OPP say the advisory affected the area around Jamieson Street East and Louisa Street and was put in place around 12:30 a.m. following an active incident involving an armed individual. Police say the situation was contained, with the individual surrounded inside a building while officers worked to resolve the incident safely.
One person is now in police custody, and investigators confirm no other suspects are being sought. The shelter-in-place order was lifted once police determined there was no longer a threat to public safety.
OPP acknowledged the stress such advisories can cause and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the incident. A police presence may remain in the area as the on-site investigation continues.
Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
