The Town of Greater Napanee is planning to prioritize used vehicles and equipment for fleet replacements as part of its 2026 budget. The move aims to promote affordability and ensure value for taxpayer dollars.
Town staff will recommend replacing vehicles with high maintenance costs first and purchasing used vehicles over new whenever possible. Updated procurement processes will ensure competitive principles are applied when buying used equipment. Financing options may also be used to reduce the immediate cost to taxpayers.
The strategy falls within the Town’s $1.2 million capital budget for fleet and equipment purchases. Council hopes the approach will reduce long-term costs while keeping municipal services running smoothly.
Residents and interested parties can view the Town’s most recent fleet condition assessment and a list of equipment likely to be included in the 2026 budget on the Town’s website.
