It was a night of goals in Trent Hills as the Napanee Raiders took on the Thunder.
First period started with the Thunder up 2-0, followed by Napanee scoring two to tie the game! Goals scored by Reid Lambert, assisted by Jackson Barnes, and Trent Williams on the Power Play, assisted by Reid Lambert and Trent Williams. Trent Hills then scored twice more to take a 4-2 lead. Napanee’s Mason Goodfellow then closed out the period with the Raiders third goal of the night on the Power Play, assisted by Jackson Barnes and Trent Williams.
That would be the end of the night for Raiders goalie Denholm Blair, who made 12 saves on 16 shots on goal. Jacob Brown would be between the pipes the remainder of the game.
Mason Goodfellow then scored his second of the night on the Power Play in the second period, assisted by Spencer Cranley, to tie the game 4-4. Trent Hills went on to score two more to regain their lead.
On to the third period, where Trent Williams scored on the Power Play, assisted by Jackson Barnes and Mason Goodfellow, to bring the Raiders within one goal. Late in the period, Mason Goodfellow would get the hat trick, on the Power Play, assisted by Trent Williams and Jackson BArnes, to tie the game and send us to overtime.
A scoreless overtime would mean it’s time for a shootout! Which the Raiders won 2 shots to 1, both Trent Williams and Mason Goodfellow scoring in the shootout for the Raiders, to lead the team to a 7-6 win!
This was the Raiders first shootout win since the league brought it back last season. In their only shootout last season, the Raiders lost to Lakefield 3-2.
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 38 saves on 40 shots on goals.
The Napanee Raiders are tin third place in the East Tod Division standings with a 15-9-2-0-1 record and 32 points.
The Raiders are back in action Thursday, December 18th when they’re in Picton to play the Pirates at 7:30pm. On Friday, December 19th the Raiders will host the Trent Hills Thunder at 7:30pm. Then on Sunday, December 21st, the Raiders play the Panthers in Port Hope at 1:30pm
