Shop with a Cop, Dec 2021
The Lennox and Addington OPP are getting ready for their fifth annual Shop with a Cop event, set for Tuesday, December 9 in Napanee.
myFM spoke with L&A Community Engagement Officer, Constable Martyn Curran, to learn more.
This year, 24 students will take part. The highest number yet. Students will be bussed in from all over L&A County, from Addington Highlands in the north to Amherst Island in the south.
Using donated funds from community members and local businesses, the students and their partnered cop will visit a few stores in town.
After shopping, everyone heads to the Napanee fire hall to wrap gifts, label them, and enjoy a pizza party before students are bused back to school.
Officers say the day is fun, meaningful, and memorable for everyone involved.
Community members can support the program by dropping off cheques at the Napanee detachment, made out to “L&A County Shop with a Cop.” Any extra donations roll over to next year’s event.
