A driver from Brantford is facing impaired driving charges after a head-on collision on Highway 62 in Prince Edward County. The crash happened Wednesday night, just after 8 p.m., when local OPP officers were called to the scene.
Police say a southbound passenger vehicle was hit head-on after a northbound car crossed the centre line. The southbound driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Officers used a roadside alcohol screening device on the northbound driver and arrested the individual for further testing.
Police have charged 48-year-old Crystal Lepp of Brantford with impaired driving, having a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Lepp was held for a bail hearing.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle involved has been impounded for seven days.
The OPP is reminding the public that impaired driving is preventable and urging residents to call 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
