Prince Edward County OPP say a late-night call about trespassers and possible gunshots on Foster Road led to an impaired driving arrest and several firearm-related charges. The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Nov. 20, when officers responded to reports of suspicious activity on a rural property.
Police say they arrived to find a vehicle speeding away from the scene. Moments later, the vehicle left the road and crashed into a ditch. The driver ran into a wooded area, leaving behind alcohol, ammunition, a spotlight and an unsecured firearm inside the vehicle.
With support from the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and a drone, officers located and arrested a suspect.
Seth Hill-Brant, 20, of Tyendinaga First Nation, is charged with impaired driving and careless firearm storage. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Picton. His driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded.
