The OPP is reminding drivers to follow Ontario’s Move Over Law as Snow Squall as poor winter weather approaches
That message comes directly from OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk.
He noted that this requirement is not only the law — carrying a $490 fine and demerit points — but is essential to keeping first responders safe as they work in unpredictable situations.
Sanchuk says emergency crews often need to step into the roadway without warning due to circumstances outside their control.
Giving them space, he stressed, is a matter of common sense and respect for the people who serve the public every day.
