It was an exciting weekend for the Napanee Raiders, who dominated the Trent Hills Thunder at home Friday before falling to the Amherstview Jets.
Friday night, the Napanee Raiders hosted the Trent Hills Thunder. The Raiders struck first early in the first period with a goal by Spencer Cranley, assisted by Mason Goodfellow. About 10-minutes later Trent Hills scored their first of the night to tie the game at 1. Then with less than a minute to go in the period, Ryan McGee scored for the Raiders on the Power Play, assisted by Jackson Barnes and Trent Williams, to take a 2-1 lead. 36-seconds into the second period, Andrew Carr scored, shorthanded, assisted by Raiders captain Reid Lambert for a 3-1 lead. Mason Goodfellow then scored the Raiders fourth of the night, assisted by Andrew Carr. The Thunder then scored their second of the night on the Power Play. But that goal was answered by Raiders Captain Reid Lambert, assisted by Andrew Carr and Ryan McGee for a 5-2 lead. Just 1-minute and 11-seconds into the third period, Mason Goodfellow scored for the Raiders sixth of the night, assisted by Ben Kerr and Spencer Cranley. Then, late in the third period, the Raiders scored on the Power Play, goal by Reid Lambert, assisted by Andrew Carr and Jackson Barnes, for a 7-2 Raiders win! Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 18 saves on 20 shots on goal.
Sunday night, the Napanee Raiders made the trip through the snow to Amherstview to play the Jets. Period one saw the Jets take a dominating 3-0 lead. The second period saw the Jets score their fourth of the night about 5-minutes in. Around 40-seconds later, the Napanee Raiders scored their first of the night, by Andrew Carr on the Power Play, assisted by Jackson Barnes. Then early in the third period, Raiders’ Matthew Airhart scored the teams second of the night on the Power Play, assisted by Eric Taher and Ryan Aldridge. Twice more the Raiders would score to tie to game at four! Those goals scored by Ryan Aldridge, assisted by Jackson Barnes and Ben Kerr, and Ryan McGee, assisted by Andrew Carr and Reid Lambert. The Jets then scored early in the Overtime frame to win 5-4. Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 21 saves on 26 shots on goal.
The Napanee Raiders are in second place in the East Tod Division standings with a 10-6-1 record and 21 points.
The Raiders are back in action Friday, November 15th, when they host Lakefield at 7:30pm. Then on Saturday, November 16th, the Raiders play in Frankford at 7pm.
