We shared with you earlier this week that new funding is coming to the Town of Greater Napanee from the provincial government.
Greater Napanee Mayor Terry Richardson shared with myFM the town is grateful for an increase in provincial funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF), but warns rising policing costs could still impact local taxes.
The town will receive about $2,159,900 this year, up $241,600 from last year’s $1.918 million. Richardson said any extra support from the province is welcome.
He said the additional funds will help the town manage operating costs and keep the 2026 tax levy as low as possible,
However, Napanee is still waiting on its annual Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) billing, which arrives at the end of November. The province has capped policing cost increases at 11 percent, which could add around three percent to Napanee’s tax levy.
Richardson said the town will know more once they receive that bill by November 30.
