The Greater Napanee firefighters are once again giving back to the community this holiday season with their 19th annual toy drive and food baskets.
Each year, the firefighters collect toys, food, and money to help local families enjoy Christmas. Last year, the campaign supported 85 food baskets and brought gifts to 155 children.
myFM spoke with Ashley Arnold, Fire Prevention Officer, who told us their ultimate goal is to give back to the community.
The drive’s biggest fundraiser, the annual breakfast, will take place on December 4 starting at 7 a.m. at Spuds!
The firefighters say toys and monetary donations are the most needed items, but nonperishable food is also welcome. They will work with local schools and agencies to create gift lists for children and use donated funds to buy what’s needed.
According to an online survey, some of the hottest toys this season are anything K-Pop Demon Hunters related and Pokemon. Firefighter Tina Duncan gave some more suggestions.
Donations can be dropped off at the Napanee Fire Hall, 66 Advance Ave, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., seven days a week.
More than 30 local businesses have jumped on board to support this years campaign. The firefighters’ 2026 calendar, featuring local photos and sponsors, will be available soon. They can be picked up at the Fire Hall.
