The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a theft investigation in Greater Napanee.
According to the Lennox and Addington County OPP, officers were called to a retail store on Alkenbrack Street around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, after reports of a theft. The suspect had already left the scene when police arrived.
Officers later identified the individual, and an arrest warrant was issued. The next morning, on Sunday, November 2, around 10:30 a.m., police located and arrested the person on Water Street.
While in custody, the individual required medical attention and was transported to hospital by officers.
Because of the medical incident, the SIU has invoked its mandate and taken over the investigation. The OPP has stated that no further information can be released while the SIU’s review is underway.
