Hwy 41 and Hwy 7 Intersection - image from Google Maps
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has started a Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to improve the intersection of Highway 7 and County Road/Highway 41 in Kaladar, Addington Highlands. The study is being carried out by MTO in partnership with Stantec Consulting Ltd.
The project builds on a 2009 plan that included realigning the north and south approaches, adding traffic signals, improving the intersection’s vertical and horizontal alignment, providing one through lane in each direction on Highway 7, and adding left-turn lanes on all approaches. County Road 41 will be partially converted to a local access road, and commercial entrances will be upgraded to current standards.
The study also reviews the Trans-Canada Trail crossing, including a potential grade-separated option to improve accessibility and account for a future high-speed rail corridor. Public Information Centres will allow residents to review the design, learn about environmental impacts, and provide feedback.
The public can submit comments or request information through the project website, www.hwy7-41.ca, or contact project managers Brendan Bureau (MTO) or Brad Hewton (Stantec) by emailing hwy7-41@stantec.com. Feedback will help shape the final design and environmental plans.
