Ontario residents are being reminded of new carbon monoxide alarm rules taking effect January 1, 2026.
Updates to the Ontario Fire Code will require CO alarms on every story of all homes with fuel-burning appliances, fireplaces, or attached garages.
The new law also applies to residential suites, care occupancies, and retirement homes to help prevent deadly carbon monoxide exposure.
