Lennox and Addington County Council is moving ahead with plans to create more affordable housing across the region. Over the last year, council has been working with lower-tier municipalities to identify parcels of land that could be donated for social housing developments.
In its 2025 budget, council set aside $225,000 to prepare up to three properties as shovel-ready sites. One of the largest proposed builds is on a 5.4-acre property on Church Street in Bath. The site could support high-density housing of up to 60 units, though current plans suggest a fourplex.
Councillors debated the scale of the Bath project, with some pushing for more units and others stressing the need for a moderate approach to fit the established community.
Council also approved motions to prepare fourplexes in Addington Highlands and Stone Mills as part of its long-term housing strategy.
