Greater Napanee council has approved a project to extend the life of the town hall roof by applying a protective coating to the metal roof. The 2025 capital budget originally set aside $37,000 for the work, but an inspection identified additional repairs. The total project cost is now $49,076, including repairs.
Council voted to award the project to Garland DBS Canada Inc. through Kinetic GPO, a group purchasing organization that helps reduce costs for public sector projects. The $12,076 budget deficit will be funded from the Market Square Reserve.
The roof coating will be gray, covering rust and corrosion, and prolonging the life of the metal roof. The roof color was chosen to fit with other downtown buildings. Council also discussed future decorative lighting for the town hall soffit, planned for 2026.
The project is expected to improve the building’s durability while maintaining the town’s historic look.
