The Napanee Raiders remain undefeated after their second weekend of action.
Friday night at the Best and Bash Arena, the Raiders welcomed the Picton Pirates. It was a quiet first period with Picton scoring first to lead the Raiders 1-0. Second period saw two goals for the Raiders, first scored by Spencer Cranley with an assist by Jackson Barnes, and the second by Captain Reid Lambert assisted by Eric Taher, to lead 2-1. but during the third period, the Pirates would score their second of the night to tie the game and send it to overtime. Just over 3 and a half minute into OT, Raiders’ Trent Williams would find the back of the net on a break away to end the night a 3-2 Raiders win! Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 39 saves on 41 shots on net.
Saturday night, the Raiders hopped on the bus and made their way to Frankford to play the Huskies. Raiders’ Jackson Barnes opened the scoring on the Power Play with an assist by Tanner Hawkins and Andrew Carr to lead 1-0. Then will less than a minute to go, Frankford scored to even to score 1-1. There was no scoring in the second period, but lots of penalties! 5 against the Raiders and 4 against the Huskies. Then within the first minute of the third period, Raiders’ Ryan McGee scored on the Power Play with an assist from Tanner Hawkins to break the tie and lead 2-1. In the back half of the period, Trent Williams scored short handed to lead to Raiders to their 3-1 win! Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 18 saves on 19 shots on net.
The Napanee Raiders are in first place in the East Tod Division standings with a 4-0 record and 8 points.
The Raiders are back in action Friday, September 26th, when they’re at home against the Lakefield Chiefs at 7:30pm. Then on Sunday, they’re on the road to play the Trent Hills Thunder at 4:30pm.
