The Rotary Club of Napanee plans to gift a roofed structure at the back of Town Hall to support Farmers’ Markets and celebrate the club’s centennial in 2026.
Cynthia Surrette, Rotary Club president, spoke to Greater Napanee Council about the project, noting the club’s long history of community contributions. Since its founding in Napanee in 1926, Rotary has funded projects including the Rotary Park Accessible Playground.
Currently, the club is raising funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and a privacy pod at the library. Surrette said the club works on a needs-assessment basis and hopes to support affordable housing in the future.
Council members praised the gift, noting that a roofed shelter will improve Market Square and enhance community events in the revitalized Town Hall and Market Square.
