As we previously reported, Changes are coming to recycling pickup in Loyalist Township and Stone Mills Township on July 1, 2025, and in Greater Napanee on January 1, 2026.
Now, residents of Prince Edward County are being reminded that major changes are coming to the blue box recycling program starting Thursday, July 17.
As part of Ontario’s new extended producer responsibility (EPR) model, producers will now take full control of recycling, including paying all costs. Municipalities will no longer manage or fund the blue box program.
Circular Materials Ontario (CMO) will oversee the new system, with E360 Solutions handling collection for local residents.
Most materials will still be accepted, and garbage and organics pickup will stay the same. However, some PEC residents may see changes to their collection day. Recycling and garbage will now be picked up on the same day to improve efficiency.
Industrial, commercial, and institutional properties must now arrange and pay for their own recycling.
To support the transition, local waste sites in Wellington, Sophiasburgh, and Picton will open on Wednesdays in addition to regular Saturday hours.
