As Canadian rockers Five Man Electrical Band once sang, “Sign, Sign, Everywhere a sign.” But not at this time in Market Square.
At last week’s Greater Napanee council meeting, councillors approved a staff recommendation to include the idea of investing in digital signage for Market Square in 2026 budget talks.
The move comes as the town sees more requests for signage in the busy public space. Staff are recommending that only core municipal business be promoted on any new digital signs.
They also want to stop accepting requests for new permanent or semi-permanent signs around Town Hall.
CAO Matthew Grant told council that the installation cost for digital signage is not expected to be high.
If approved during 2026 budget deliberations, the signs would help manage growing interest while keeping the area organized and focused on town-related messaging.
