The Town of Greater Napanee will not receive provincial funding to help upgrade the B&B Soccer Field. At the June 11 Council meeting, councillors heard their grant application to the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund was denied.
The town had budgeted $65,536 as its contribution to the project. With no outside funding, council voted to move that money into a reserve fund for future use.
Staff said the grant application process was straightforward and they received little feedback. Council was told they are encouraged to reapply if the program opens again.
The soccer field rehab remains on hold until new funding becomes available.
