If you see something floating above Kingston or Napanee this week, don’t worry — it’s the Goodyear Blimp!
The famous airship is marking its 100th anniversary with a special flyover of the region yesterday and today (June 16 and 17, 2025). The celebration honours Goodyear’s century-long legacy in Canada and the dedicated employees at the Napanee plant, which has operated since 1988.
The Goodyear Blimp is 75 metres long, filled with helium, and one of the most recognizable symbols in the world. It provides aerial views for major events and supports charities through special ride donations.
Today, June 17, Goodyear Napanee employees will get a rare chance to ride the blimp in thanks for their contributions.
Although public rides are not available, residents are encouraged to snap photos, enjoy the view, and share the excitement online. If you snapped a pic, we’d love to see it! You can share it with us on our Facebook page.
