MediPharm Labs has sold its Hope, B.C. facility to Rubicon Organics for $4.5 million in cash, as part of a move to focus on core operations and boost efficiency. The facility came with MediPharm’s 2023 purchase of VIVO Cannabis, but all commercial activities there ended in 2024.
At the same time, the company is expanding production at its Napanee, Ontario site. This EU GMP-certified facility will increase its annual cultivation capacity by about 30 per cent in 2025.
MediPharm says the expansion will help meet growing global demand for pharmaceutical-grade cannabis, especially in Europe and Australia.
The company has been selling off non-core assets and cutting costs. Since 2022, it has lowered yearly operating expenses by more than $40 million.
MediPharm says it’s committed to financial strength and delivering top-quality cannabis products to its growing international customer base.
The Napanee site is now a key part of that plan.
