The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte are planning a major tourism initiative aimed at creating jobs and sharing Haudenosaunee culture with visitors. A new Visitor Tourist & Welcome Center will be built on Highway 49, near the Training Center, acting as a gateway for tourists to learn about Tyendinaga’s history, values, and traditions.
The community hopes to offer hands-on experiences like storytelling, crafting, cooking, and music while honouring and protecting all that is sacred. Tourism projects will also support environmental education and cultural teaching.
An online survey launched June 1, 2025, to gather ideas from community members. Residents can help decide what the tourism program should be called and how Tyendinaga should present its story to the world.
Paper copies of the survey are available at the Administration Building, CWC Social and Health receptions, the Fitness Center, 3 Nations Traders, and Wavy.
To learn more, residents are encouraged to participate and help shape the future of local tourism.
